Hickory NC SEO
Be The Name They Read Back.
A customer used to scan ten blue links. Now they read one answer, or ask an assistant who to call and hear three names. We build the pages, the structure and the profile that put a Hickory business in that answer — and keep it there.

Three Places To Be Found.
One Body Of Work.
A search used to end one way: a list, and you were on it or you weren't. Now the same question can resolve three different ways before anyone clicks anything. Below is what each of those looks like in plain terms, then the four pieces of work that cover all three at once.
The Ranked List
The oldest of the three and still the largest. Ten results, ordered, and a customer who rarely looks past the first handful.
What it takes: a site a crawler can read quickly, pages that genuinely cover what you do and where, and enough corroboration elsewhere that Google believes you.
Where it fails: quietly. You can be respectable on page two for years and never know what it cost.
The Answer Above It
Google increasingly prints a reply at the top of the page and cites a source or two. That box is a different competition from the list beneath it.
What it takes: content written as clean, self-contained answers, marked up so a machine can lift a paragraph without mangling it.
Where it fails: expensively. Rank fourth, watch the answer box quote someone else, and the click never happens at all.
The Recommendation
Someone asks an assistant who to hire. It replies with a short list of names. No links, no scrolling, no second page.
What it takes: consistency. Assistants cross-check — your site, your listing, your reviews, whatever else mentions you — and hesitate when those disagree.
Where it fails: invisibly. Nothing tells you the conversation happened, or that you weren't in it.
Nearly every site handed to us has the same problem: the content is buried inside a page builder, it takes four seconds to paint on a phone, and nothing on it states plainly which towns get served. We replace it. The rebuild runs on our own stack, hosted on Cloudflare, and it is structured so a crawler and a customer reach the same conclusion about what you do.
A site that loads before a visitor gives up on it, and that machines can summarize correctly without guessing.
- Rebuilt rather than patched — the exception is rare and we'll say so in the audit
- Cloudflare hosting, built for speed on a phone on site, not a desk
- Service and location coverage written out instead of implied
- Maintained afterwards, so it doesn't quietly rot
This is the part nobody sees and everything depends on. Schema that describes your business accurately, headings that follow the shape of the question a customer actually asked, and answers written so a paragraph can be lifted whole and still make sense out of context. It is unglamorous, and it is what decides whether you are quoted or skipped.
Your words end up in the answer box, and the assistants have something solid to repeat back.
- Schema that matches reality, not a plugin's default guess
- Questions answered in full on the page, not teased into a call
- Consistent details wherever your business is mentioned
- Revisited as the engines change what they reward
For a lot of local searches the listing is the result — the customer never reaches a website at all. It is also the single most neglected asset most businesses own: wrong primary category, half the services missing, no photographs since 2019, and reviews sitting unanswered. Fixing it is often the fastest visible change in the whole engagement.
You show up in the map results, and the listing gives someone a reason to call rather than keep scrolling.
- Categories, services and attributes set properly and checked
- Posts kept running so the listing looks tended rather than abandoned
- A workable habit for asking for reviews, and replies to the ones you get
- Watched, because listings get edited by strangers and go wrong on their own
Every month we go through Search Console together — what people typed, what they were shown, what they clicked, what they ignored. That is where the next month's work comes from. It also means you are never taking our word for whether this is going anywhere; the numbers are yours and we read them in front of you.
Decisions made on evidence, and a straight answer when something isn't working.
- A monthly pass through the real search data, not a dashboard screenshot
- Work sequenced by what is costing you most right now
- Changes shipped weekly rather than saved up for a quarterly review
- Plain language about what moved and what didn't
A Small Practice,
On Purpose.
There is a version of this business that scales: hire coordinators, buy software, run a hundred accounts on a template. It pays better. It also produces the monthly reports every business owner has learned to ignore. We went the other way.
Fewer Clients, Actually Handled
The person who audits your site is the person who rebuilds it and the person who answers when you call about it. That caps how many accounts can run at once, and we would rather hit the cap than staff around it.
- No account manager relaying questions to someone else
- Work shipped weekly — you can watch the site change
- A straight answer when something isn't moving, including "stop paying for this"
- Month to month, because the work should be the reason you stay
- The site and the listing are yours from day one, not held as leverage
Ten Years Teaching The Trade
Before this practice took its current shape, a decade went into training other agency owners — thousands of them, across six countries. That is an unusual credential and it has an unusual side effect: we have watched what every kind of agency does badly, at scale, and know exactly which corners get cut.
- Built around local demand, not adapted from a national playbook
- Familiar with the shortcuts, because we've had to correct them in other people's work
- Comfortable in regulated corners where the claims you may make are limited
- Positioned for AI recommendations while most local competitors haven't started
The Click Is
Going Away.
For twenty years the whole game was getting someone to click through to your site. That assumption is quietly breaking, and most local businesses are still optimizing for a behaviour their customers have started to skip.
Ten Links And A Decision
A customer searched, got a list, opened three or four in tabs, compared them and called one. Slow, but it gave an average business a real chance to be considered — being fifth still put you in the running.
- Position mattered, but so did simply being on the page
- Your website did the persuading once they arrived
- A merely adequate site could still convert a motivated buyer
- Ranking reports roughly described reality
One Answer, Or Three Names
The same question resolves before the list. Google prints an answer and cites a source. Or the customer skips the search entirely and asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini who to hire in Hickory and gets back a handful of names with no links attached.
You are either in that answer or you are not in the conversation. There is no page two to be on.
- Being eighth is now closer to being invisible than it used to be
- Assistants cross-check your details and hesitate when they conflict
- Nothing reports the recommendations you were left out of
- The businesses fixing this now will be entrenched before the rest notice
Audit. Rebuild.
Then Keep Going.
No discovery phase that bills for six weeks of meetings. Four steps, and you can see the result of each one.
We look at the site, the listing, what you rank for and what the assistants say about your trade in your town. You get the findings in plain language, free, whether or not anything follows.
Usually a new site on our stack, structured and marked up properly, with the Google listing sorted at the same time. This is the heavy month and it moves fast once we have your logins and photos.
Coverage for the services and towns you actually want, answers written for the questions people ask, listing kept active. Weekly, not saved up for a quarterly presentation.
Every month we go through the search data with you and decide the next round from what it says. Calls are the scoreboard; rankings are just how we get there.
Weidman Digital
Plain Talk, Then Work.
Sixteen years in digital marketing, the last ten of them running this practice rather than working inside someone else's. In between, a decade spent training other agency owners — a couple of thousand of them, across six countries — which is a strange line on a résumé for a local firm and also the most useful thing on it.
We're in Hickory, and this is a family business in the literal sense. It also helped start Highland Academy, a hybrid homeschool here with more than a hundred and twenty students, where we teach entrepreneurship and an introduction to AI to the high schoolers. Between that and the client work, the week is full and the standards are not negotiable — the people who hire us have payrolls that depend on whether this works.
What you will get is a straight read. If your site is fine, we'll say so. If the thing holding you back is a listing category set wrong in 2019, we'll fix it in an afternoon and tell you that's what it was. There is no version of this where you get talked into something you don't need, because the accounts we keep longest are the ones where nobody felt sold to.
- Independent practice since 2016, in digital marketing since 2010
- Trained agency owners across the US, UK, South Africa, Germany, Australia and Costa Rica
- Based in Hickory, North Carolina, working with clients well beyond it
- Co-founder of Highland Academy, Hickory — 120+ students
- Month to month, plain language, and the files are always yours
What Clients
Actually Wrote
Quoted exactly as they appear on Google, including the ones that name the owner personally. You can check every one of them against the profile.

Ed Weidman is a man of integrity, honesty, and always goes above and beyond... I have worked with many agencies and 'gurus' over the years, and Ed is by far one of the VERY BEST! He makes himself available for his clients and students.
He actually did my website and he obviously set up the right keywords and got me in the right places because I get a lot of calls and emails... My company is now top of Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor and Facebook in my field. I credit Ed for making this happen.
Ed is one of the most genuine people I know, the man is also a master at his craft, with SEO and business sales coaching. His knowledge and guidance is one of the main reasons my agency is alive and growing everyday!!
This has totally changed the direction I was heading in business... Ed's ability to simplify what was a complicated industry for me in the online marketing space is unlike any other business mentor I have ever encountered. Just do it.
The Questions
Worth Asking Anyone
Put these to every firm you're considering, this one included. The answers sort the operators from the sales process faster than any portfolio will.
We make a local company easy for software to understand, so that software puts it in front of customers. In practice that is four things: the website itself, the way its pages are structured and marked up, the Google Business Profile, and the trail of corroborating detail that search engines and AI assistants check before they recommend anyone. Every engagement starts with a free visibility audit so you can see the gaps before you decide anything.
They are three different places a customer can find you. SEO is the ranked list of blue links. AEO is the answer printed above that list, where the engine quotes one source instead of offering ten. GEO is the conversation — someone asks an assistant for a recommendation and it names a handful of businesses. The same underlying work feeds all three, but each rewards something slightly different, and we build for all three at once.
Because the shortlist has got shorter. A page of search results gives a customer ten options to weigh up. An assistant asked who to call in Hickory reads back two or three names. Being on that list is worth far more than being eighth on a page, and almost no local competitor is set up for it yet, which is exactly why it is worth doing now rather than in two years.
Usually, yes, and we will tell you plainly during the audit if yours is the exception. Most of the sites we are handed are slow, built on a page builder that buries the actual content, and impossible to mark up properly. You can spend a year fighting that or a few weeks replacing it. We rebuild on our own stack, hosted on Cloudflare, and the finished site is yours.
The owner. Not a coordinator, not a junior running a checklist, and not an offshore team you never meet. That is a deliberate ceiling on how many clients we take at once, and it is the reason the answer to "what changed on my site last week" never has to be chased down.
No. The arrangement is month to month. If you want to stop, give us thirty days so there is time to hand the site over properly rather than leaving you with a dead domain and no files.
You do, throughout. The profile stays in your Google account with us added as a manager, and the site is transferred into your control if we part ways. Any agency that will not put that in writing is telling you something important about how it plans to keep you.
The Google Business Profile tends to move first, often inside a month or two, because it is the piece most businesses have never properly filled in. Ranked search results are slower — three to six months before the trend is clear enough to argue about. Anyone promising faster than that is either guessing or selling.
Often within a week of getting what we need — logins, photographs, a clear sense of what you want said, and any brand files you already have. The delay in this work is almost never on our side; it is waiting on a password or a photo of a finished job.
The test is simple: if a booked call or appointment is how you grow, and your customers are looking for someone nearby rather than shopping nationally, the work applies. If you sell to the whole country, or your customers find you some other way entirely, say so on the call and we will tell you honestly whether this is worth your money.
A look at where you currently surface and where you don't: how your site is built and how fast it loads, what your Google Business Profile is missing, which searches you already show up for, and what an AI assistant says when it is asked to recommend someone in your trade and town. You get the findings whether or not you hire us.
By what is costing you the most right now. Sometimes that is a listing with the wrong category attached, which is an afternoon's work and a visible change. Sometimes it is that nothing on the site says which towns you cover. We sequence by what moves soonest, not by what fills a report.
Because the phone behaves differently, and because we go through Search Console with you every month — what people searched, what they were shown, what they clicked. Rankings are a means to an end. The number worth watching is how many strangers contacted you this month who would not have found you before.
Yes, and most people do. The number at the bottom of this page takes texts and reaches us directly — there is no call center and no answering service in between.
